Look what I made!

So let it be no secret that yes I struggle with this whole wife thing. No one ever tells you how suddenly you have to cook and clean a WHOLE HOUSE! Oh wait I think thats what my mom as been trying to teach me when she said, "Amy, if you just hang up your clothes when you take them off your room would stay clean". But still this is hard work! Within the first month of our marriage I knew it was time to attempt a real meal. you know one that you don't just add water too. So I tried to make a Lasagna in the crock pot I read the directions step by step and got it all put together before I went to work. It said cook for 6 hours, perfect that would be right when I got home from work and about an half hour before Jeff got home. As I walked into my house after work suddenly the smell of burnt pasta stung my nose! Dang it how is that possible! As I open the lid I burst into tears. (oh ya thats another thing no one warned me of being suddenly very emotional about everything) I called my mom to tell her the very bad news! After telling her everything i did and what it looked like and how i had cooked it just the right amount of time it said to, she told me oh no i'm sure its still good the top might just look brown. After that i felt a little better and cut out a piece. and here we go more tears, the whole thing was BLACK!!!! I texted a picture of it to my mom which quickly followed a phone call from her, all I could hear was uncontrollable laughter from the other end and "ya honey I think its ruined" THANKS MOM! So after that terrible cooking experience I have sworn off cooking of any kind and poor wonderful Jeff as taken care of all of that until now........ One Sunday after a lesson on how to be good wife's (like they all seem to be about) I felt it was time to try again. So I opened the cook book and made Banana bread! after again following the directions step by step and about 45 min later, pure joy came out of my oven! I did it!!!! It turned out good! Jeff could not stop laughing but I was soooo excited I made something and it turned out good!
Wow this as turned out to be a long posting but the moral of my story is HELP!!! Calling all wife's I need help! Dont get me wrong I do see improvement but more help is always nice. How do you do it?
PS I wish I still had pictures of the Lasagna!

That is some GREAT looking banana bread! We've all ruined a few meals - don't beat yourself up over it.

And just because you have a million memories of your mom cooking good meals every night doesn't mean that she didn't throw in a box of mac n cheese every now and then.

We just never knew that was cheating because we all loved mac n cheese so much, right?

Keep up the good work, Amy!

HEy, I made mac 'n cheese for my kids tonight.
OK, I have a bunch of recipe blogs on mine, check it out. I have made some of them and I only do "easy" stuff. Ashley is holding out on me, I have asked her for recipes and she says she doesn't USE any!!!!
SO, unfortunately we eat out more than we should. 2 STAPLE meals when I was a newlywed.....homemade chicken noodle soup, and broccoli/chicken casserole. I am by no means a great cook, but I still try. In fact tried a new one last night, I didn't love it but Paul did, and usually my kids don't like any NEW recipes. I do think some crockpots cook faster. Even now I ruin recipes. Sorry this became a novel. I seem to remember your mom being a great cook. I think cooking for 2 is hard. Good Luck!

Go to the Mccoys on my blog and go into her MAY posts, and halfway down or so she has a hilarious post on ruining banana bread. You'll get a good laugh.

You are too cute! Just do easy reicpes or just grill, get a george forman, Alan and I cooked everything on the forman when we were first married. And Hanna is right, we've all done it. Looking back I can remember many a nights that neither of us ate. Cold cereal is a good thing to keep around the house. Keep it up.

Oh ya I heard a rumer that you Passey's weren't coming to our Gouls night, it better not be true, I want to see you before I move. That is our last weekend.
