Here's to hoping things get better
Well today we took Liberty to the Dr. Things were just getting so hard and sad with Miss Liberty and her Colic. It was after a very long night of both Liberty and I in tears all night long that i knew I needed to take her in. I had already cut out all dairy out of my diet hoping this would make a difference after 3 weeks of being so good and not noticing a difference I was very frustrated, it was a inside battle with my self every time I fed her cause I felt like I was making her sick. She still just cries and cries with a tight little tummy and can't get her gas out. It's heart breaking when you know she is trying to be happy, like last night she was all smiles for my mom and all of sudden her tummy churns and here comes her "crying fits" its so sad! My poor baby is in pain and there is nothing I can do. Well today we took her in,and they think it is reflex and they are putting her on Zantac. We will go back to the Dr. in 2 weeks for Liberty's 2 month well check. So we are hoping to see some improvement in the next two weeks. I'm really really really hoping it helps. And I hope it helps her sleep better at night :)

Good luck! I'm so glad you now have a little hope for some sleep!
I hope it helps both you and Liberty sleep. I always feel so helpless when my kids hurt, you're a good mommy for caring so much.
that is what Hayley was on for the first 4 months of her life. it worked wonders! i was hoping they would try zantac for Liberty because colic is so hard and it really helped my girl. I hope it works out for you. Colic is such a hard thing to deal with, especially with your first child. Dont worry, though, it gets better. Hayley is SO happy now! And even 2 months ago, things were sometimes a nightmare.
It gets better, I promise!
oh also, let me see if i can get this dvd from jamie. (or if you know someone else that has it). it's called "Happiest Baby on the Block." and it really helped us. It taught us ways to hold her and calm her down during her colic. of course, it doesnt fix everything but it sure makes things easier. let me see if i can get it from jamie and maybe drop it by your house after work one of these days (youre in asu east housing, right?). ill let you know.
If she is having trouble with gas, Steve's sister used gas drops on a regular basis and she swears by them. It's a non-drug option that supposedly works and is worth a try. I hope Libery starts to feel better soon!
You are such a sweet mom, Amy. You don't even complain you just want your little girl to feel better. I hope that she does and that you both can get some sleep.
Atleast you have a doctor that is willing to try something not just excuse it away! I hate that! I know it is no consolation because I have been there, but they do grow out of it and get better! Just look at Claire! I had the exact same thing where I felt like it would never end and I was up mostly all night and all she would do was cry. If you want to talk to me about my experience or what I did call me:-)! Just hang in there!
I'm sorry Amy. You can try a method to get her tight lile tumy to loosen and get all that gas out. It's called I love you.
(I)Lay her on her back and and go below her belly button, to the left side, where you think her bowles might be and gently rub down ward, (L)then rub accross her belly under her belly button and down the left side, like an upside down L, (U) then start at the botton of the right side and go up and accross and down, like an upside down U. This is to loosen up her bowels and get them moving. The bowels empty on the left side so you start there to get everything moving out and then you continue to the "L" and "U" to get everything moving. It works for Calvy, it is hard, but you should do it every time you change her diaper, even if she isn't acting collicy, just to prevent it.
I'm sorry Amy. I always like to try whatever natural method I can before doing any type on medicine, just because they are so small, but other times, it's the last resort, and nothing else has worked. I would definately do both, do the meds and try the excercises because it will help her body learn to get rid of it instead of the medicine, so she's not dependant on it.
I love you man, hang in there.
Amy,
I'm glad they put her on Zantac. That is what Jaxon was on for a while as a newborn. He was colic'ie' too. He also could not tolerate milk and always spit it up, breastmilk, soy milk, and regular formula. Then I tried him on the formula with the added rice cereal to fill his little belly and mix the rice with the milk and it worked wonders too.
Good luck with that Amy. I really hope it works. You are such a good mom.
I'm sorry Amy! Hopefully things will get better!!!
Your blog is so cute, and Liberty is adorable! I'm adding you to my blog list, okay? Good luck with the colic!
